On Sunday mornings, Bible Explorers learn about God's big picture by studying major Bible stories throughout the Old and New Testaments. The second graders begin the year with an in-depth study of the Lord's Prayer—one of our Faith Markers. After this, they focus their study on the Fruits of the Spirit displayed by various characters in the Bible.
Kids stay in the worship service until dismissed at around 8:30 am to the Kids’ Praise and Worship Choir (K4-2nd grade). Children staying through 2nd service will be transferred to the gym classrooms by the choir teachers.

We Obey God Who Helps Us
We Worship Jesus Because He is the Son of God
We Worship Jesus; He Does Great Things
We Tell What Jesus Can Do Because He is God’s Son
We Obey God Who Helps Us

Please label all of your child’s belongings and let the caregivers know of any particular needs your child may have. This may include food allergies, other issues, and tips on how to comfort your child.
At about 7 years old, most children can separate fantasy from reality and they are beginning to understand a spiritual dimension that exists along-side the physical. This is a wonderful time to emphasis prayer. Prayer is talking to the real and living God. Through conversation children build a relationship with God. In second grade Sunday School we take four months to teach about prayer. Children are shown that prayer is more than asking God for things, but includes worship, confession, requests for others, for protection and for our needs. Part of this teaching includes learning the Lord’s prayer and reciting it for the congregation. In mid-winter the 2nd graders gather with their parents to celebrate their growth as praying children. This event happens the same weekend as the students recite the prayer in the worship services.
