Serve Nations Ministries

Fellowship and Hospitality

This is a ministry of practical service and hospitality beginning with and extending back to the church. The goal is to introduce international students to the spirit life of Eastbrook church in a natural and non-threatening manner. Opportunity for involvement includes helping with meals, donating items, and assisting with event planning/coordinating. For more information, contact Elie Hasbani.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Practical service by volunteers includes assisting students to build skills and complete coursework and papers related to their studies. Classes are held on Sundays, and private tutoring is done during the week in homes and public libraries. There are two levels of instruction for the Sunday ESL class—a Basic level for those new to the country and language, and a more Advanced level for those wanting to strengthen their conversational fluency skills to advance in their careers or fields of study. The ministry is seeking ESL tutors and people who will converse with international students. For more information, contact Adam Shidler.

International Women’s Socials

Women with a heart for internationals are welcome to participate in these organized activities that introduce international women to American culture and provide opportunities to form friendships. The ministry also seeks women who can drive international students to the various social activities. For more information, contact Elie Hasbani.

Hosting Program

The hosting program provide a natural environment for Americans and international students to know each other through the American hosts assisting the international students to look for permanent housing during the first week upon arrival. Hosting is a small part of the larger goal of facilitating friendships between Americans and international students. The philosophy is to build genuine friendship with the international students and not to use friendship merely as a way to open the door to evangelism, even though we are intentional in sharing the gospel with our international friends. For more information, contact Elie Hasbani.

Global Gateway

Global Gateway is a monthly potluck gathering focused on a particular nation or people group to promote interaction and cultural understanding between the nations and Eastbrook Church. Global Gateway is a gathering for internationals; as well, it is an opportunity for everyone in the church to learn about other cultures, share Christ, and unite the nations. Opportunities for service include bringing internationals to Global Gateway, as well as preparing meals, setting up, and cleaning up afterward. For more information, contact Elie Hasbani or Maritza Diaz.

Multicultural Focus Groups at Eastbrook Church

The purpose is to disciple the new international believers in a group setting, facilitate spiritual growth, and integrate Christians from all backgrounds into the larger church, as well as follow up one-on-one. For more information about any of the ministries below, contact Elie Hasbani.

Hispanic Focus Group

La Comunidad Cristiana Hispana (LCCH)

A fellowship that reaches out to the Spanish-speaking community with the love of Jesus Christ. Gatherings are held weekly on the church campus and consist of worship, Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. Anyone who would like to immerse in a Spanish-language fellowship and/or has a heart for the Latin community is welcome. For more information, contact Maritza Diaz.

Hilos de Amor/ Threads of Love

Hilos de Amor is a service project sewing ministry and part of LCCH. Together with volunteers from Iglesia Getsemani, participants make hats and scarves that are distributed at select outreaches. Participants also made hand-painted gift bags filled with gifts and sent with Eastbrook missionaries for the children they encountered on their missions trips to India, Guatemala, and Mexico. If you can paint, cut fabric or sew, you are welcome to join the fun. For more information, contact Maritza Diaz.
